Pan African Speech and Debate

The Pan African Speech and Debate Program is a transformative educational initiative aimed at empowering African youth through structured speech, debate, and public speaking engagements. In its second edition, the program proudly partnered with Musabe Schools in Mwanza, Tanzania, serving as the host venue for this impactful cross-cultural exchange.
This year’s program was marked by the arrival of the Bozeman High School Hawkers Speech and Debate team from the United States on June 29th, 2024. Their participation signifies a growing spirit of international collaboration, where students from different backgrounds come together to learn, share, and grow through dialogue, argumentation, and performance.
The two-week intensive training, held from July 1st to July 15th, 2024, provided students with comprehensive workshops in debate formats, speech writing, argument development, critical thinking, and presentation skills. The curriculum was designed not only to strengthen technical speaking abilities but also to foster intercultural understanding, leadership, and confidence among participants.
Throughout the program, students engaged in collaborative activities, friendly competitions, mentorship sessions, and talent showcases — all tailored to encourage expressive freedom, academic curiosity, and civic engagement. The Pan African Speech and Debate Program continues to serve as a unique platform for nurturing articulate, informed, and empowered young leaders across the continent.
